Abstract

Rotary Draw Bending is the most commonly used bending technique in tube bending to achieve good precision results. There are several other bending techniques such as Ram Method, Rotary Method, Roller Method, and Compression Method. In this analysis, an experimental method was carried out by making variations of mandrel models and different mandrel dimensions with a bending angle of 90 degrees. For the measurement process, a digital caliper is used and then the measurement results are drawn with the Mastercam software application. In each rotary draw bending process, the results of SUS 304 stainless steel pipe bending are observed whether they experience wrinkling or smoothness in the bending section. In this experiment, good bending was produced at mandrel diameters tolerating 0.2mm, 0.3mm, and 0.4mm to the inner diameter of the pipe. However, although the results are good at the size of the mandrel with a tolerance of 0.2mm, it should be noted that the process of inserting and removing the stainless steel pipe will have difficulty because it must apply more pressure, sometimes having to hit with a hammer.
