Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works for JSeD, and appropriate citations are required if they use the work and/or words of others. Plagiarism can take many forms, including passing off another person's work as one's own or copying substantial parts of another's work without proper attribution. This kind of behavior is considered unethical and is not acceptable.

The editors of JSeD meticulously enforce plagiarism provisions. They carefully examine every sentence and word in the manuscript. It is acceptable to have around 15 percent excluding references that are very similar to those published in other papers. Some sentences that provide definitions, such as the definition of innate immunity, are often used repeatedly, and plagiarism in these cases is generally unavoidable and accepted. Plagiarism screening will be carried out by the editors of JSeD using Turnitin

The detailed steps of plagiarism checks of JSeD:

  1. The articles submitted by the author must be original works that are not under consideration for publication, nor have they been published by other journals or publishers. This is ensured through a copyright waiver granted to the publisher and a completed plagiarism statement provided by the author.
  2. All articles undergo evaluation by a peer review team composed of experts in the relevant field to help control plagiarism. The review team is also responsible for identifying the novelty of the research presented in the manuscript.
  3. Submitted articles are checked for plagiarism using specialized software. Additionally, these checks may include grammar assessments conducted by software applications. The results from these software tools will be included in the review process and communicated to the author.
